For those of you who don't know what ALS is - let me tell you :)
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), often referred to as "Lou Gehrig's Disease," is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. Motor neurons reach from the brain to the spinal cord and from the spinal cord to the muscles throughout the body. The progressive degeneration of the motor neurons in ALS eventually leads to their death. When the motor neurons die, the ability of the brain to initiate and control muscle movement is lost. With voluntary muscle action progressively affected, patients in the later stages of the disease may become totally paralyzed.
The aim of the challenge is to bring awareness to those with ALS by making you feel frozen and paralysed for just a short period so you can feel what they feel.
There is a site you can go to to donate - Joost van der Westhuizen Charity
Please check out my video below and also the following 2 videos which have really touched me in a way that really helped me understand what ALS is.
The other part of challenge is to donate to a charity that support ALS. The J9 Foundation is a South Africa based charity that provides services to ALS/MND patients... It was started by our very own Joost van der Westhuizen!
Thanks guys - Leave a comment below and add your challenge videos :)
